鼻衄，俗稱流鼻血，也稱鼻出血，是指由於鼻孔內的毛細血管脆弱，血管受到破壞後，血液從鼻孔里流出，是一種醫學上的疑難病癥。大多數是從一個鼻孔里出，但偶爾也會兩個鼻孔一起出。流鼻血，有經常性流鼻血和偶爾流鼻血之分。
原因引起偶爾流鼻血的原因，大部分是由於生氣、焦慮而引起身體內的火氣很大，或者是被毆打，撞擊異物，就會出現流鼻血。 部分人童年時期被異物重擊過鼻子，俗稱傷鼻子，這會引起此人，終身性的經常流鼻血。多在天氣炎熱時、夢中、早晨醒後，血液自然從鼻孔里流出。一般無法用藥物治療，只能用臨時止血方法。經常性流鼻血，不能排除血友病、白血病、再身障礙性貧血等血液病所引起。 另一種可能則是因為各種原因鼻子內部產生炎症，導致反覆的血管破裂和感染。 至於從中醫學的角度來說，一般中醫均認為導致經常流鼻血的成因有以下四點：
中醫同時認為，從流鼻血的時間可判斷出導致流鼻血的成因。例如早上時間的流鼻血一般屬於氣血兩虛型；晚上時間的流鼻血多屬於肝腎不足型；中午過後時間的流鼻血多見於血熱型；至於季節性的流鼻血，由於秋冬的天氣比較乾燥而引起肺燥型的流鼻血。[1] 止血方法簡單而快速的治療方法是，先用衛生紙將鼻孔堵住，再用涼水或冰刺激腦門。民間也有一種方法是:將流鼻血的人的頭髮，剪下一點，燒成末狀後，讓流鼻血的人聞。 通常情況下，先用第一種方法，如果仍然止不住，第二種，還是止不住，建議前往醫院，同時要用衛生紙將鼻孔堵住，並用涼毛巾或冰敷住腦門，以達到儘量止血的目的
